About The Double TCS London Marathon 2027

The Double TCS London Marathon 2027 takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2027.

For 2027 only, the TCS London Marathon will become a unique two-day event, welcoming approximately 100,000 participants across the weekend. Participants on both days will follow the same iconic 26.2-mile route through London.

A One-Off Two-Day Format

The 2027 Double is a special one-off change to the traditional London Marathon format. The event will take place across Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April, creating two days of marathon racing, mass participation, charity activity and community celebration.

The two-day format will not become the permanent annual format of the TCS London Marathon. London Marathon Events describes the Double as a unique event for 2027 only.

Elite Race Schedule

The elite races are divided between the two days of the Double.

  • Saturday 24 April: Elite men's and elite men's wheelchair races, together with the male Championship and Good for Age races.
  • Sunday 25 April: Elite women's and elite women's wheelchair races, together with the female Championship and Good for Age races.

The mass events on both days will include a mixed field of male, female and non-binary participants.

The Marathon Route

The same iconic marathon route will be used on both days. The course starts in the Greenwich and Blackheath area and continues through south-east and central London before reaching the finish area in Westminster.

Participants pass major London landmarks and neighbourhoods along the 26.2-mile route, creating a major citywide sporting and community experience.

100,000 Participants

The Double will welcome approximately 100,000 participants across the two days, making the 2027 edition substantially different from the traditional one-day format.

Participants will be allocated to either Saturday or Sunday and cannot take part in the in-person marathon on both days.

Sport, Charity and Community

The 2027 Double is designed as a citywide celebration of sport, charity and community. London Marathon Events is working with charities, community organisations, schools and other partners as part of the wider weekend.

The expanded event also provides additional opportunities for charitable fundraising and community participation across London.

Family and Community Activity

The wider 2027 Marathon Week includes activities designed to involve children, families and communities. The TCS Mini London Marathon is scheduled for Friday 23 April 2027, before the two-day marathon weekend.

London Marathon Events has also announced additional opportunities for schools and London boroughs to participate in the 2027 event.

Sustainability

Sustainability is part of the wider approach to the 2027 event. Participants have been given choices relating to finisher rewards, including whether they wish to receive a finisher medal and T-shirt when confirming their place.

Visitors and participants should consult the official London Marathon information for the latest guidance on travel, waste, event operations and sustainability initiatives.

Running Show

The TCS London Marathon Running Show is planned to take place at ExCeL London from 20–24 April 2027. It forms part of the wider Marathon Week surrounding the Double.

Participation and Entry

The 2027 entry process includes several established routes to participation, including the ballot, charity places, Good for Age, Championship, British Athletics Clubs, international participation and places for participants with disabilities.

The main 2027 ballot has already been drawn. Participants who were successful through the ballot were allocated an event day, while additional charity and other entry opportunities may be available through official channels.
